A church without sin?

We often perceive the Roman Catholic Church as holy and divine, thus infallible. But Fact is Divinity can never be a property of humanity and there is no measurement for divinity (either you are divine or not, there is not such an adjective as diviner or divinest). the church in all its greatness is not infallible, and certainly neither is the Pope. Only Jesus can be regarded as an oxymoron called human divinity. Since He was both human and God. With God being the crucial value on the equation, nothing else in this world can be considered divine. We often neglect to see the gruesome and heinous aspect of church history. Children have always been taught that Christians were prosecuted and killed. They have been ousted out of their lands, fed to the lions, etc. but what they never tell them is that the church also prosecutes and even kills people. Muslims and Jews were tortured to believe in Christianity during the Spanish inquisition, countless Muslims were killed in the name of God during the Holy Wars. Women were burned at the stake and called witches, mistress’ of satan by the church. Even today, the Catholic church condemns every member of freemasonry (even though their belief of one God, social obligations and contributions to society are quite similar). I ‘m not saying though that your priest, pastor or rabbi are hypocritical spawns of hell. They are certainly much more knowledgeable on topics concerning theology. But take everything with a bit of salt. Try to find out for yourself if what they tell you is true. Even if it was the Pope who tells you “your fly is open”, you’d still have to take a look down below to check if it is in fact open before you close the zipper.

maging englishero na lang tayo

Often times my work requires me to talk to Old people. But since my features aren’t exactly Filipino looking, they almost always start off a conversation with me in English. After which I usually tell them, “Tagalog nalang po. Marunong ho ako magtagalog”. However one thing always seems to amaze me, these old folks have a better command on the English language than most younger Filipinos. The truth is the standards on English spoken knowledge have been declining ever since the 80’s. it started off with President Aquino’s “Filipino First” program. Sure, it isn’t wrong to try to foster a sense of patriotism for a nation. and of course it was good to bolster up Philippine made products. But in my opinion, what was wrong was to start forcing kids to watch cartoons in tagalong. For a nation with overseas workers as its main export, it would have made perfect sense to help the kids to have a good strong foundation for spoken English. Believe it or not, overseas contract worker remittances make up around 10% of the Philippine GNP! And with all the call centers sprouting out in the country nowadays, I wonder how much better this industry would be growing if most Filipinos spoke better English.

Know of any Silas out there?

This is yet another reactionary posting in regards to the Da Vinci Code movie/book. Does anybody remember the character Silas? I remember that he whips himself inside the confines of his room. It couldn’t help but remind me of a Filipino custom where they do something similar, but out in public during the holy week. They are parading all over town whipping themselves, then finally allowing themselves to be crucified in hopes that God would accept their acts of repentance. They see it as a way for absolution for their sins. I've always thought this custom is incredibly STUPID! The thing is, God doesn’t get even, He forgives! What do they think? God wants to give em a great big kick on the balls in public to make Himself happy. If you happen to know anybody doing this, remind them that their body is a gift from God. Some even consider it God’s temple. How would they like it if someone trashes a gift that they gave or flogs the walls of their home. The ironic thing is that sometimes drunkards, killers, rapists, kidnappers and thieves do this ritual every year thinking that their sins have been cleansed so they can go about doing the same business afterwards. Where’s the repentance in that?

The Da Vinci Ban

I just watched the Da Vinci code a few days ago. The movie was nice although I felt that the book was better. What can I say, it just impossible to compress a good book into 2 hours. It’s a good thing that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) decided not to ban the movie here. If you’re thinking of banning the movie, why didn’t you ban the book in the first place! I just don’t understand what all that fuss is about. There’s a reason the book is on the fiction section of the book store. It’s because it’s FICTIONAL.

Virus on my Network

Whoever writes those damn virus programs should be dragged into the streets, shot on the stomach and left to bleed. I've spent the last 3 days installing norton antivirus, updating and cleaning up all the computers on my company network. unfortunately most of them have been infected by a virus named "w32.rontokbro @mm". some sort of worm virus that replicates itself to every folder opened by the user including shared folders on the network. On top of that, i also found out that the program the bureau of internal revenue required us to install and use was infected by a virus called "w32.weird" a backdoor trojan that allows unauthorized access to your computer. WHAT THE HELL!!! good thing I keep my internet connections on a different network. I called and asked the b.i.r. about the virus and they told me I must have gotten it from somewhere else. WHAT THE FUCK!!! the program, the WRITE PROTECTED diskette was from them. how in hell can it come from some place else?!? Damn them all to hell!!!
